The ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has decided to grant adopted citizenship to a foreign woman who marries a Nepali citizen only after seven years.

A meeting of the secretariat held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Saturday morning decided to grant naturalized citizenship to a foreign woman who marries a Nepali only after seven years.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, CPN (Maoist) spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha concluded that it is appropriate for a foreign woman who marries a Nepali man to obtain naturalized citizenship after confirming that she has resided in the country for seven years. Gave information.

The main opposition Nepali Congress and Madhesi parties have not agreed on the proposal to grant citizenship to foreign brides only after seven years. Both the parties have been saying that there should be a provision to get adopted citizenship after marriage as per the current provision.
